VOSTOK

Subject association of journalism, photojournalism and visual journalism students in Tampere university. Vostok stands for Strongly independent journalist school [Voimakkaasti sitoutumaton toimittajakoulu].

We promote journalism and visual journalism students’ benefits and take part in our faculty’s and university’s decision making and education development. We also organize events, education and exercise possibilities as a counterbalance for studies. Subject association is led by its yearly elected board.

Vostok is one of Tampere university’s most active subject associations. We also have our association’s own magazine called Gonzo.

In Tampere university, journalism, photojournalism and visual journalism belong to faculty of information technology and communication sciences.

JOIN VOSTOK / MEMBERSHIP

Anyone that studies journalism, photojournalism or visual journalism in bachelor’s, master’s, license or doctoral degree in Tampere university can join to be actual member of the association. If someone wishes to support the association’s purpose and work, they can join to be supporting members (for example exchange students). Supporting members have the right to take part in association’s presentation or refreshing events and study trips. Both actual and supporting members are bound to pay bullet payment in order to join Vostok. The amount of the pay is decided by the association’s board separately for actual and supporting members.

Fill in the form to join as a supporting member. You will get information of the payment to your e-mail.

EQUALITY

Equality is an important value to Vostok ry. We have written down our equality scheme including principles and acts which are used to work towards more equal treatment of our association’s members and other people who take part in our events.

If you have questions about equality, you can contact the minister of equality of Vostok’s current board.

If you have faced bullying or harassment, you can approach us via our harassment form.

EXERCISE AND SPORTS

GENERAL SPORT EVENTS

Vostok exercises a lot and diversely. We have tradition of yearly autumn and spring hikes, but we also arrange new sport experiments like pole dancing or air yoga. Our ministers of sports are very curious about new experiences, so don’t hesitate to suggest new and weird sports.

ATALPA AND SPORTUNI

Most of university’s sports are available in Atalpa. With a cheap seasonal payment you can attend to group exercise classes, ball game shifts and with a small extra fee you can also take part in exercise courses. Payment for Atalpa also includes Tampere university of applied sciences’ and Tampere university of technology’s exercise selection. So, after payment you can even go to gym to Hervanta.

VOSTOK’S DYNAMO

Dynamo is Vostok’s sports club, and it arranges for example football, floorball and baseball games. Every student and teacher who is part of our subject association can join to play with Dynamo. Team spirit is unique, and no one is judged for their skills.

On Mondays 19-20.30 we have exercise shift at Atalpa with Reettorit, Transla, Kopula and Lexica.
